RealClearPolitics.com yesterday morning had these two articles listed in this order:
And why aren’t the Senate Democrats releasing their proposed spending plan? Because to do so would “subject [their] proposal for higher taxes to Republican attack”.
So, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid slams Speaker John Boehner’s plan, but Senator Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad won’t release the Democrats plan because: “If you go through a partisan markup, it … makes it more difficult to get a bipartisan agreement.”
In other words, the Democrats won’t release a plan in part because they are afraid Republicans would do to their plan what Harry Reid is doing to Speaker Boehner’s plan.
I guess they should know.
