Two things about 40 years ago today. First, the Cubs were playing an afternoon game in Atlanta. Once again, I do not remember too much about the game other than that the Cubs won, 5 to 4, and the end of the game. Phil Regan was pitching. There were two outs in the bottom of the ninth. The batter for the Braves hit a little pop fly. Don Young was playing right field. He came running in, trying to catch it, but the ball hit the tip of his glove and fell out. Fortunately, Regan got the next batter, and the Cubs won.
Second, and way more importantly, 40 years ago today, I married the girl of my dreams. Today is our 40th anniversary, and she is still the girl of my dreams.
