Last week the United States Preventive Services Task Force changed its recommendations on when women should get annual mammograms to check for breast cancer. The old recommendation was that all women over 40 should get annual screenings. The Task Force now says that women between 40 and 50 and those over 75 do not need annual screenings unless they have special risk factors.
Needless to say, this caused a lot of controversy, but former President Bill Clinton has stepped in to help. President Clinton said that if any woman between the ages of 40 and 50 needs a breast exam and cannot get one, he will personally exam her himself.
The former President did say, however, that somebody else would have to take care of those over 75.
