As the Obama/Pelosi/Reid troika tries to write (i.e., cobble together) a health bill that will be acceptable to the liberal Democrats in the House while still not being so bad that Harry Reid can’t figure out some way to buy the votes of all 60 Democrats in the Senate, Time magazine reports on "What Health Care Reform Means for the States" and says "a rebellion is taking shape in the states, which are alarmed about the new financial burdens they will face in a revamped system."
Reading the article in Time, which only talks about one small part of the health care bill, you can see that this is not a health care system but a health care "contraption".
This article talks about some of the things the states are supposed to do in the new system. Do any of you think that your state governments will be able to do, and will be able to afford, what is expected of them under the Democrats plans? I’m from Illinois, and I know that we won’t get it right or be able to pay for it.
And this is just a part of the new health care contraption. I would almost call it a Rube Goldberg machine – except Rube Goldberg machines actually worked. I don’t think anybody realistically thinks that the bill that is going to pass will actually work. The idea is just to pass something, anything, and then fix it later. I wonder how many times in our history, Congress and the President have passed a bill for something big that they knew wouldn’t work, but they passed it anyway, figuring they would fix it after it passed
In other words, save your money so you can pay for your own health care in the future. You don’t want to rely on the Obama/Pelosi/Reid health care contraption.
