I was watching the Cubs-Dodgers game on Fox this afternoon. (Good news: The Cubs won, 7 to 3.) In the eighth inning the home plate umpire had to go over and pick up a foul ball himself. The announcers said the ball boys must have been asleep. Actually, as anybody who has ever gone to Dodger Stadium knows, that wasn’t it. The ball boys, being typical Dodgers’ fans, probably just left after the seventh inning to beat the traffic.
