I am, of course, referring to today’s Cubs game. Casey Coleman gave up four runs in 3-2/3 innings, but that wasn’t the problem. After the fourth inning, the Cubs were down 4 to 3. In the top of the fifth, they loaded the bases with nobody out. That was followed by two strike outs and a fly out to center.
In the top of the ninth, the score was still 4 to 3, our bullpen having done its job. The first two batters singled, so the Cubs had runners on first and third with nobody out (and runners on second and third with one out after pinch runner Tony Campana stole second). Pop out, ground out, ground out. 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position.
As I said, aaarrrggghhh!
