Sad news. Andy Pafko passed away yesterday at the age of 92. Andy played and starred for the Cubs from 1943 to 1951, playing for the Cubs in their last World Series, in 1945, at the age of 24. After he was traded from the Cubs, Andy played for the Dodgers (then Brooklyn) and Braves (then Milwaukee). While Andy played in one World Series for the Dodgers and two for the Braves, including winning the Series in 1957, I think he always conasidered himself a Cub.
Obviously, we never got to see Andy play for the Cubs, but we did see him and meet him at Cubs Conventions. He was always very impressive. I am not sure the last Cubs Convention that Andy came to, though I think it may have been 2010. In any case, here are pictures of him from Conventions in 1996 and 2007.
