The completion dates for the bleachers and other work around Wrigley Field keep getting put off. All except the left field jumbotron, of course. That will be ready on April 5. Don’t worry about it. In any case, with all of the delays, one hopes that “Wait Until Next Year” doesn’t wind up being literally true with respect to the right field bleachers. The right field bleachers are, after all, the source of the title of this blog.
Also, we are now told that construction work may even need to continue during games in order to get it done. There will be dirt and dust all over the place. (Ozzie Guillen might have appreciated it; maybe the dust will choke the rats.)
Which leads to the point of this post: If the Cubs start out good in April and May, even with all of the dirt and dust, maybe we can bring back those tee shirts from 2003: “In Dusty We Trusty”. If so, that’s great – as long as we can skip overworking the starting pitching – and the eighth inning collapse.
